By accessing and using FreeTimeline ("the Service"), available at freetimeline.pt, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.

2. Description of Service

FreeTimeline provides web-based timeline creation tools that allow users to:

  • Create and manage fictional universe timelines (Universe Timeline)
  • Create and manage personal biography timelines (Biography Timeline)
  • Export and import timeline data in JSON format

The Service stores all user-created data locally in the user's web browser using localStorage. FreeTimeline does not collect, transmit, or store user timeline data on any external servers.

3. User Responsibilities

When using our Service, you agree to:

  • Maintain Your Own Backups: Since all data is stored locally in your browser, you are solely responsible for backing up your data using the export functionality. FreeTimeline cannot recover lost data.
  • Use the Service Lawfully: You will not use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
  • Respect Intellectual Property: Content you create using FreeTimeline remains your intellectual property. However, you are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any third-party content you incorporate.
  • Not Attempt to Compromise the Service: You will not attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or engage in any activity that disrupts or damages the Service.

4. Data Storage and Privacy

FreeTimeline is designed with privacy as a core principle:

  • All timeline data is stored locally in your browser's localStorage
  • We do not collect, transmit, or store your timeline content on our servers
  • We cannot access, view, or recover your timeline data
  • Clearing your browser data or switching browsers/devices will result in loss of your data unless you have exported it

5. Intellectual Property

Your Content: You retain all rights to the content you create using FreeTimeline. We do not claim any ownership over your timeline data, characters, stories, or other creative work.

Our Service: The FreeTimeline website, including its design, code, graphics, and branding, is owned by FreeTimeline and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of the Service without our written permission.

6. Third-Party Services

The Service may display advertisements provided by third-party advertising networks, including Google AdSense. These third parties may use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. FreeTimeline is not responsible for the content or practices of these third-party services.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • Any defects will be corrected
  • The Service will meet your specific requirements
  • Data stored in your browser will persist indefinitely

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FREETIMELINE AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

In particular, we are not liable for any loss of data resulting from:

  • Browser data being cleared (manually or automatically)
  • Browser updates or reinstallation
  • Switching to a different browser or device
  • localStorage limitations or failures
  • Any other circumstances beyond our control

9. Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
